Cretesol Concrete Remover can be used to clean dry, set concrete and cement off concrete mixers, cement and concrete plants, concrete pumps, formworks, scaffolding as well as hand tools and wheel barrows. Cement and grout splashes on floor and wall tiles, metal and wooden edgings as well as windows can easily be cleaned off using Cretesol Concrete Remover. However, care must be taken to avoid spilling Cretesol Concrete Remover onto existing grout and cement surrounds.

Typically, four liters of Cretesol’s Concrete Remover will clean 10m² of heavy build up. Four liters will clean 20 m² of normal build-up. 8 to 12 liters will clean the outside of an average-sized mixer truck with heavy build-up.

Yes. Instructions to clean the inside of a drum can be found in the “Applications” section.

Spray it on using a pneumatic spray system or a hand-held spray bottle. Cretesol’s Concrete Remover may be applied manually using a bucket and brush. Smaller tools and equipment can be dipped in a bath of Cretesol Concrete Remover.

Yes. Cretesol’s Concrete Remover biodegrades 89,6% after seven days, breaking down into harmless substances. This determination was achieved using the ASTM E1720-01 “Ready Biodegradability Closed Bottle Test”.

No. Biodegrading does not begin until after Cretesol’s Concrete Remover has hit the ground and mixed with water and earth.

Yes. However, effectiveness will lessen over a period of time due to the evaporation of active ingredients. The bath should be covered to minimize evaporation. It is important to strain the cement sludge out of the solution as soon as possible – this will give the product a longer use life.

If Cretesol’s Concrete Remover is stored in an air tight container, it will maintain its effectiveness indefinitely. If Cretesol’s Concrete Remover is exposed to the atmosphere, evaporation of the active ingredients will lead to a loss of effectiveness.

Cretesol’s Concrete Remover is non-corrosive and can be applied to metals, plastic, rubber, and wood as well as painted surfaces. However, as with any cleaning chemical, Cretesol’s Concrete Remover should be tested on a small area first before commencing with cleaning operations. See the data sheet and MSDS for test determinations.

Test CFR 49 Sec. 173.127 and ASTM G-31 has shown that Cretesol’s Concrete Remover is non-corrosive to skin. However, as with any chemical, it is advisable to wear protective gear at all times when using Cretesol Concrete Remover i.e. gloves, eye goggles, dust mask.

Applying Cretesol’s Concrete Remover with pneumatic foam sprayer offers the most efficient use. This method reduces the amount of product used as the foam sticks to the surface to be cleaned and does not drip, thus reducing wastage.

Yes. For light film build-up of cement slurry and day-to-day cleaning, Cretesol’s Concrete Remover can be diluted 1:6 with water.

Acids are harmful to both the user and the environment. Corrosive chemicals may cause damage to skin and eyes, as well as to nasal and breathing passages. Acids are also harmful to fauna and flora, and may contaminate soil and groundwater. Last, but by no means least, because of their corrosive nature, acid cleaning solutions may reduce the lifespan of plant and equipment. Plant and equipment will have to be maintained and/or replaced more often when using acid-based cleaners. Cretesol’s Concrete Remover is non-corrosive and non-hazardous to users, equipment and the environment.

The cleaning of heavy build-up off the outside of a concrete mixer can take between one and two days using mechanical cleaning methods. Also, scrapers and hammer drills damage the surface of mixer drums and leads to more expensive maintenance of equipment. The speed at which a mixer is cleaned mechanically is also impacted on by the amount of human resources that can be allocated to a job. Heavy build-up on the outside of a mixer can be cleaned off by one applicator using about 12 liters of Cretesol Concrete Remover in about one hour.

No. Sometimes, very heavy build-up will require more than one application. However, once heavy build-up is cleaned off, it is advisable to clean regularly to prevent heavy build-up again.
